The issue is the inability of Euro leaders, to recognize a coup when it occurred in 2014 in Ukraine. The downstream effect of this was cutting themselves off from Russian gas.

De Gaulle would turn in his grave.

It's not a capitulation. It's vassalhood. This is the same EU had has cut itself off from cheap Russian gas purely to please the US, and has cut itself off from trade with Russia, as well as "decoupling" from China which should be Europe's target for exporting goods.

Remember as well the EU is also being led by the nose to fight Russia and China, which is NOT in the EU's interest either. So on all fronts, the EU is a self flaggellating puppet operated by the US fist inserted behind and inside it.

And the EU does not have leaders - it has vassal figureheads that are obviously managed directly from Langley, VA.

Question is when will it finally click for the massrs of fools in Europe who operate under the fictional belief that they have leaders and live in independent countries.

Possibly some anti-Russia quid pro quo off the books?

The dumb European leaders deserve Trump wiping his big butt with them.. As for the €600 billion in investment in U.S. they’ll have to rummage hard up their anuses to find it..

You say "the EU has embraced a hyper-mercantilist, export-driven growth model". To be precise, Germany did that, at the detriment of almost everyone else. But Germany completely controls the EU : all important commissioners are German, and they also control the Parliament (which is mostly an empty shell anyway).

When your rivals ignore you, you take advantage of your allies!

Europe didn’t have a chance with their NAZI leadership.

This “deal” is further evidence, were any necessary, that the EU will pay any price to keep the US as deeply engaged in Europe’s (in)security architecture as possible.

Europe would be more secure by engaging closer in business with Russia and China and the developing world, and disengaging with the US cult of zionist-fuelled perpetual war, butchery and horrific exploitation and oppression of own people.

Well America pays the freight for whatever is the Europeans are up to, so I suppose this is some kind of delayed repayment. Since we do not live in a frictionless world, one tends to favor when these deals when they help one’s own country.

Haddad is saying exactly the same thing as von der Leyen now: it's good for stability...

Well, I read recently somewhere that the EC was an American creation from the getgo. Can't remember where I read it but it went into some detail. Poor memory! 😔

Britain is a country drowning in debt, deindustrialization, child poverty, inequality and social divisions. They neen nukes like they need a hole in their heads.

The US imposing tarrifs on them while flying over some nukes to store there (i.e. putting an "X" on the map for the Russians to hit in any retaliation situation) is basically just whipping a dying horse towards its own grave.
