The inflation of the Russian threat is a continuation of the Covid-era paradigm: a method of governance that fuses psychological manipulation, militarisation and the normalisation of emergency rule
Is it not strange that these Governments resort to keeping people in fear rather than having a happy populace. A 'happy' populace is more likely to work well for it's country than an unhappy one.
I saw this in Company's that I worked in. Decent holidays/healthcare/maternity leave is always going to be a company which is more productive.
I've long believed that the EU, along with the liberal elites, is engaged in a hypocritical scheme that is driving Western democracies toward collapse. To maintain control and avoid accountability, they continuously shift from one psychological manipulation to another, disguising their failures as strategic moves.
Preparing for war and its consequences is at a whole lot different level than making a decision to get jabbed or not. Equating the 2 seems rather extreme drama queening. But putting your drama aside Thomas a united Europe in certain areas is a good thing. Don't you think. A united health response to a pandemic is worthy of concideration as germs don't have passports. A rational united military and response to potential threats is worth considering. DEI is worthy of a united front. So please Thomas less drama and think things thru a tad better.
What a patronising response! The only way a very diverse and conflicted Europe can be united is through increased authoritarianism and fear-mongering as Thomas correctly describes. Astonished you think the appalling restrictions on freedom and human rights during covid were justified. You really don’t think the fear-mongering was massively inflated? Let alone the failure to factor in the terrible and entirely predictable collateral damage of lockdowns? 4.5m on the NHS waiting list before lockdown - 7.5m now; 100,000 excess deaths involving cardiovascular disease in the UK since lockdown; up to 740,000 urgent referrals for missed suspected cancer; 10-15% increase in non-covid excess deaths; 30% increase in anti-depressant prescriptions; more suicides; 740,000 children missing 10% of school, 100,000+ missing 50% of school; 3.8 million denied furlough while banned from working; countless businesses going bust; the lonely deaths & unattended funerals; £920 billion added to the National Debt; the elderly locked up in care homes; 40,000 experienced care workers sacked; the vaccine-injured still living with the consequences - and that’s if we don’t count the knock on effects in the developing world where 500 million people were pushed into poverty and 100,000 children died of malnutrition in 2020… And there’s more… This positioning of Russia as an existential threat to Europe on zero evidence, despite the West’s obvious baiting of Russia with Ukraine as a proxy, is clearly another massive manipulation. Jeez, we only have to look at how we were primed over Iraq and all the other terrible, pointless wars we have initiated since WW2 to see the exact same psychological tactics, distortions and fear-mongering. Thomas is exactly right to draw these parallels. So sad that we learn nothing.
Freedom needs a limit just as government power needs a limit. Had China remained in its highly fragmented earlier state rather than unified, China would have been partitioned among the Western powers circa 1880s. Keeping a large country unified is extremely difficult. Since the early days up to now, I don't think the Chinese have solved the problem. Americans and Swiss might have been closer to the balance of Federal and local power until recently.

I think this Editorial is spot on.

This rearmament thing is absurd. It really means Germany needs to spend more money on Nato weapons.
