This extraordinary hijacking of democracy in Romania parallels the attempt to undermine the legitimate Georgian parliament in another West-backed "colour revolution." In the wake of how all this unfolded so catastrophically in Ukraine, I think people are wisening up to the bs spouted by our MSM and corrupt elites. Listening to Jake Sullivan earlier, attempting to explain why the US does not support the ICC and ICJ's characterisation of Israel's actions in Gaza as 'genocide', he gets less convincing by the day and even the journalists asking the questions can smell blood. How much longer can they sustain their lies? "War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength."

Obama gave a talk recently where he encouraged this in the US by positing: "Increasing willingness to violate democratic norms. Use the power of the state to target critics, journalists, and political rivals. Resort to violence, to gain, and hold onto power."

they always say what they’re doing

Indeed, he insisted. 😝 his exact words are “there are going to be times when…[cites crimes against democracy] pluralism does not call for us to stand back and say, “well…i’m not sure that’s okay.” In those circumstances a line has been crossed AND WE HAVE TO STAND FIRM.”

„I’m convinced if we want democracy as we understand it to survive, then we’re all going to have to work towards a renewed commitment to pluralism. The alternative is what we’ve seen here in the U.S. and in many democracies around the world – not just gridlock and public cynicism, but an increasing willingness on the part of politicians and their followers to violate democratic norms, use the power of the state to target critics, journalists or political rivals and even resort to violence in order to gain and hold on to power.” https://x.com/BarackObama/status/1864873030255563079

It’s so brazen, but the MSM refuse to see it, so the vast majority just assume this is how it is. I’m amazed by how otherwise apparently intelligent people swallow the crap without so much as a hiccup.

I don't even know if its the vast majority anymore. The real president won that election through social media posts. The governments of the west have their populations under ransom is what this is. We sit and watch a drama unfold between them and pay for it all or go to jail if we don't pay. And finally its the military and the police that allow this to happen so its our own working classes that are doing this to the rest of us.

This reads like someone who has paid exactly zero attention to Romanian politics over the past years and just dropped in to fit this into a general anti-transnational organization narrative.

At the very least, do you due diligence and report on this matter properly. The parliamentary elections were not overturned, and a new government is currently being formed on that basis. In those elections, the far right parties combined for a grand total of 30% of the vote. POT, the party that most directly supports Georgescu, only got 6% of that 30%.

Meanwhile, Georgescu himself took a bit over 20% in the first round of the presidential vote. So, while surprising, it was hardly a foregone conclusion that he was going to win in the second round. We've seen this movie before in France and elsewhere. Referencing a single poll from Romania TV is hardly indicative of the actual outcome (as we well know from the many, many recent polling errors).

But as we can see this week in Compact, which uses the word "coup" on two headline articles without ever referencing any of the context I just mentioned, there is an agenda and a narrative being pursued here.

I would like more information, please, because I do not know this issue and romanian realities. ¿It is false that the first round of presidential elections vere annuled? ¿and that were annuled for a "weird" campaign (that, in my view, hasn't nothing of weird)? If the answer is yes, we can call it "coup d'Etat" or not; but this is a semantic preference (the fact refered is the same).

¿Why you criticize the narrative of Thomas?

Let's talk and argue our views for try to have a better knowledge.

Thanks a lot,

The US/EU have basically said that elections are contingent on outcomes that Washington approves of.

So, what is anyone proposing to do about it? I have seen no evidence of anything from Romania other than meek acceptance.

Well we do what we’re told here in Australia!

Wait hang on, you can cancel an election because of foreign interference? Brilliant! Do AIPAC and Labour Friends of Israel count as foreign interference?

Hopefully the West will collapse - sorry, Americans and Euros, your lives will suck - before Russia and China have to collapse it.

The powers that be here in 🇬🇧don’t need to be so brazen in maintaining control; 82% of the UK electorate did not vote for Starmer’s Stasi but they are now the public face of the system. Very clever is the British deep state but then they have had centuries to perfect the idea of ‘democracy.’

Thank you Thomas for speaking truth. Without voices like yours how are we to know what is really going on, anymore? 🙏
