But the stakes are higher now perhaps. Tensions are more elevated. If the US accuses Iran for 'backing' the militia who attacked this base they have yet another excuse for attacking Iran. The base is in Syria not Jordan. The US does not want to draw attention to its illegal presence in East Syria, so they pretend it’s in Jordan.
