Whilst I respect both Thomas Fazi's and Pascal Lottaz's intelligent analyses, I find assertions such as Israel is "desperate" and losing "the PR war", or that such considerations influenced its decision to attack Iran, improbable and wishful thinking. That the US approved and effectively colluded in the attack is obvious. The invasion of Iraq already proved that protests, demonstrations and public opinion in the West count for nothing. This has again been confirmed by the genocide in Gaza. The past five years have shown us that "our" democratic-cum-totalitarian governments recoil before nothing. Timid noises and lip-service from the whores of Berlin, Downing Street and the Elysée prove/mean nothing. Israel is operating not from weakness but from strength, secure in the certainty of US support and that it will be held to account for nothing: not even the use nuclear weapons, for which justificaiton would be sure to be found and accepted. But it's true that the only thing that can save Iran in the long run is for the country to develop its own nuclear deterrent.
The greatest weapon of the West is that its people falsely believe they are free. By so blatantly ignoring the will of the people they show how this is nonsense. It forces them to either back down or demonstrate their control.
Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah: “The recent call from Biden (to Netanyahu) proves everything I said before. If the Americans want to stop something, they can make it stop. The claim that the Americans cannot force Israel to do something is nonsense.
According to some theories, Israel controls America. No sir, it is America that controls Israel.
The story about the Jewish and Zionist lobby is - forgive me for saying this - a joke invented by the Arabs so that they do not have to fight Israel.
They do this so that they can go to America, deposit their money there, and establish relations with America, under the pretext that they are establishing an Arab lobby in order to compete with the Jewish lobby.
After 75 years, we can see what came out of the Arab lobby. The Arab money is piling up in the American coffers, but that's it”. (April 2024)
"Are American neoconservatives using Israel as the spearhead for their own long-standing plans to reshape the Middle East and eliminate the Iranian regime, and to what extent does Trump share these aims? Or is the Israel lobby driving US policy toward war — even, possibly, against Trump’s wishes?"
I say both. There is an unholy alliance between American neocon/neolib war-mongers and the Israel lobby. That is something that Trump can not resist. I'd say that what Trump actually wants or thinks does not matter much. Obama was duped by his own intelligence about the Ghouta gas attack. Trump was probably duped about Soleimani. Trump will be duped again, if it is necessary.
" Yet even if Iran were pursuing nuclear weapons, the legitimacy of Israel’s position would still be dubious. On what legal or ethical grounds can Israel — a nuclear-armed state that has never signed the Non-Proliferation Treaty — deny other regional actors the same capability?" Israel is completely lawless when it comes to the rest of the world. I don't know about inside Israel. Is that lawless too ? Maybe. As far as the US being involved and even pushing this attack and the demise of Iran in general. Yes. And its coming from England - so many think. Ukraine too. England's maps of the ME are what is the map of the world. They own the ME according to Guido Preparata. Very hidden though, although during the early part of the genocide british jets were constantly in Gaza's skies.
1, How can Israel be committing genocide against the Palestinians when the Palestinian population has been increasing over the last few decades?
2. Let's remember that most wars involving Israel in the last 80 years have been started by their adverseries. Obviously that includes this one, with actions by Hamas that showed true genocidal intent.
3. Ongoing slaughter in Gaza could cease if genocidal Hamas surrendered and stopped hiding within the civilian population of Gaza.
4. If the mafia in Naples was behaving with a genocidal mindset towards the residents of Rome, would you be behaving rationally?
I can understand the Hamas response to Israel on October 7th, but I couldn't justify it
I can understand the Israeli response but, of course, I couldn't justify it.
There will never be a solution to this conflict whilst those able to attempt to mediate favour one side or the other. I don't.
I cannot take seriously Mearsheimer’s contention that nukes aren’t offensive weapons. Our nuclear triad suggests otherwise. Also, how could they be defensive other than as a deterrent? That nukes may deter use of other nukes in the past does not guarantee the same in the future. And we have Ukraine attacking a nuclear power already.
I dont understand how so many cannot see what is plan: WW III is being attempted to be introduced by the western maniacs on many fronts.
There is a Ukrainian front. Russia decided to go on the front foot and begin it first. But it is ignoring the simulaneous attacks on its strategic defenses, radar etc. It's being too laz.
There is a China front in Taiwan and Philippenes. China has shown that it wont lose if the US attacks it there. So the only result there would be a lose-lose.
There is a middle eastern front with Palestine, Lebanon and Yemen. Syria is a front - Russia chose to concede that front and not over-extend itself.
But Iran is a front where Russia would lose an important military tech ally and partner, and would lose a buffer zone. And China too would lose a tech partner and oil supplier. So here, both would have to take a stand. And that is the danger. Because if WW III moves into overt move, that surely goes nuclear very quickly, in which case the whole planet loses.
But "narrative"? No man - get your head up and see the full picture.
Read the NY Times article from last year: the US vis the CIA fomented a coup in Ukraine on Russia's border, and begain attacking ethnic Russians there and loading up the Ukrainian military to attack Russia. US built bioweapons labs on the Russian border - a scandalous mis use of resources in a coutnry where if you dont know they have so poor health that TV and viral pneumonia is common - it's Ukrainan refugees that have been the source of these outbreaks in western Europe over the past 2 years. The NY times article makes it clear that Ukraine was being built up as a proxy to attack Russia ultimately.
Anyway, looking at the past in Geogia, Russia decided to go ahead and strike the first blow meet them on their own territory - that is where the mythology of "unprovoked agreession" was created: as a narrative to avoid talking about WHY Russia invaded.
What would YOU do if Iran threatened to send you to the next life because their holy book demonises you and they are obsessed with building the weapon to do it?

I agree, except on one point:

Also, by bombing Iran's nuclear facilities, Israel has opened the Pandora's box of nuclear terrorism.
Meanwhile, Х has suspended my account without giving any explanation. Freedom of speech. Western values. Sure.
None of us against war should be using X, Meta or Alphabet!

They have systematically assassinated children for 20 months.
- Balfour declaration 1917
- Nakba 1948
These alone tell you the genocidal intent of the white western imperial coloniser.
This rhetoric is from the handbook of genocidal denial.

No, no, no, this is not about "narrative".
