The stark difference between those two press releases is depressing - from someone trapped inside the US circle of hell anyway. Thanks for the solid update.

Putin is justified in not trusting USA .

NATO has broken their Minsk agreement.

That is why Putin wants all other conditions in place .

Because knowing NATO, they will use ceasefire to rearm and regroup to restart the war.

America wants Russia to stop fighting. That's all. There is no interest in peace. They want to stop Russia from defending itself while Ukraine will continue terrorism and armament. That is not peace.

The idea that a solution for a gangrene evolved for 35 years could be reached in no time was always only an electoral slogan... I choose to see the glass not completely empty, the restoration of US\Russia diplomatic link as a progress and hope with time the situation will improve and finally will lead to a long lasting agreement. I am more worried about the ME, to be honest, at the moment

If ukraine attacked Belarus in 2021 because it was a threat due to housing neo-czar imperialists troops and a csto member, then using tankie Orwellian logic, csto invaded belarus.

Trump and ukraine support a ceasefire. Putinistan does not.

Indeed — “that’s where things stand”. The question is for how long…….

Why should there be a "breakthrough"? Russia is winning a war, and when it eventually forces surrender it will arrange matters to its satisfaction. Mr Putin was simply being polite and fending Mr Trump off.

Steve Witkoff sees it quite differently. He says technical teams will begin meeting in KSA within a week to work out a total ceasefire, which he expects within weeks. See: https://www.bloomberg.com/news/videos/2025-03-19/russia-s-putin-is-acting-in-good-faith-says-witkoff-video

Who can trust Trump and the USA?
